I am currently a sophomore at Endicott College studying Communications with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Studio Art. I graduated from Fryeburg Academy in June of 2005.
In high school I enjoyed photography and elective English courses. In the past I had taken art classes during the summer and ever since I can remember my mom and I had always bought a sketch book of some kind for the summer. Art was a large part of my life since I was young and it continues to shape my life. However in high school the only type of art classes I took were photogrpahy.
I enjoy photography, especially taking pictures and altering them graphically. One of my favorite classes in high school was photography. I loved taking black and white pictures and hand developing them in the dark room. I then scanned the pictures into the computer and played around with photoshop, changing the picture or adding color.
My freshman year of college I studied Graphic Design. Towards the middle of my first semester I was getting anxious to take other courses aside from art classes. I did an internship at a local business in Conway, NH and realized I enjoyed the business side more than the artistic approach. Starting my sophomore year I changed my major to Communications with a concentration in Adevertising and have enjoyed those classes much better. While taking the communication classes I feel that I am becoming well rounded because I am gaining a business understanding while having my art background. My art classes did not go unused, I am using them to gain a Studio Art minor. I feel my change has made me much happier and in the long run I will be more valuable.
